INR Patient Self Testing Video Demo

Posted by Marie B. Walker
October, 2009

Thank you to Michael Schwartz and his wife who made this video and were kind enough to share it with us. Below are a few comments from Michael about the video:

"I decided to put together a video showing me using my self-testing monitor that I use weekly to check my Coumadin level. Before I had this monitor, I was dependant on monthly lab visits and having to hustle to find labs when we traveled. Sometimes technology can really change your life for the better."

You can also learn more about patient self testing on ClotCare at www.clotcare.org/clotcare/pst.aspx.

Editorial Note from Henry I. Bussey, Pharm.D. - Although warfarin (brand name Coumadin) is often referred to as a "blood thinner," patients should be aware that warfarin does not actually make the blood thinner. To learn more about how warfarin works to prevent blood clots, see www.clotcare.org/clotcare/aboutwarfarin.aspx.
