ClotCare Honored with Humanitarian Award from CHEST Foundation
Marie B. Walker
August, 2008
ClotCare is delighted to announce that it has been selected to receive one of four Humanitarian Project Development Grants provided by the CHEST Foundation. The Humanitarian Award was granted in recognition of the beneficial volunteer work Henry I. Bussey, Pharm.D., FCCP, FAHA has done with ClotCare over the past eight years. According to the award’s critera, "[s]elected projects must show a clear impact on their community and have the potential for long-term sustainability and replicability."
The award, which Bussey describes as a "great honor," is accompanied by a $25,000 grant provided to ClotCare over two years. "This funding," explained Bussey, "could not have come at a better time." According to Bussey, "ClotCare has continued to grow by about 40% per year, but it has become increasingly difficult to rely on industry-sponsored educational grants." ClotCare, which recently announced that it has become a charitable 501(c)(3) organization, relies on tax-deductible contributions from individuals, foundations, and businesses to keep this valuable resource running.
